I had a very interesting thing happen to me today. I learned something new----from a client, at that, about technology no less.

Can it be, well yes, it can! It turns out that my 30+ years of being passionate about technology & teaching myself everything from DOS programing and DB4 at 13 to almost every program that has been developed for the PC or Mac business user in the last 25 years has still left me room to grow. It really boils down to your perspective, much like in life. The actual lesson is not really so teachable here, it had to do with opening a .dat file. This is simply a file that has been created by a program and for some reason has this extension. In my case, it was created on a Mac in Excel, and sent to me for review on my PC. The bottom line is that, my client knew that her employee had sent me a spreadsheet so she took great pleasure in telling me to save the file and open it from within excel. The epiphany came when I realized that I had probably never in all my experiences had someone send me a spreadsheet created on a Mac not formatted for use on the PC. What I realized is that if we are open, there are always new things we can learn. We learn from our experiences, and we are always experiencing new things! How open are you to learn form the situations around you? As our world changes at the rapid pace that it is changing, there are bound to be many things that can change the way we do business and even live our lives if we are only open to listening and learning from those around us and our day to day experiences.
